NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
