Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world may be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
