No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
