NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
