No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
