No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he liked gambling on various card games when he was young. He found himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a bit and relocated to New York to participate in some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were difficult as he played countless hours and do not win a majority of the time. He earned some additional money by being an runner for the poker players. He theorized he might boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to get more sleep and concentrate even more on the game.
The definite improvement in his game began when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would frequently compete against one another. He was able to access several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, he would sharpen his logical thinking abilities. Howard used these strategic ideas in the game of NL hold’em.
Howard also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of the game as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the correct choice. Howard told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and compete in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the best female players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer relocated to Sin City in 1993 and participated in cash games for the next 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
